Peter Stubbe Redux; General Werewolf update

A while ago I did a post about the fairly famous German werewolf case of Peter Stubbe, from the pamphlet A true discourse Declaring the damnable life and death of one Stubbe Peeter, 1590. Recently I came across an absolutely amazing and beautiful animation of this same story that I really have to share:

It's awesome, right? The stop-motion cutout animation, the song, everything is perfect and I love it so much. Werewolves are the best spooky monster, don't you think? They're my favorite anyway. I recently read the book Rabid: A Cultural History of the World's Most Diabolical Virus, which speaks about the tie between rabies and the "werewolf" myth. (Although the best parts of that book deal with Louis Pasteur and modern-day cases of the disease. Still, I recommend it.)

Also I started watching the MTV show Teen Wolf (don't judge me) because it was on Netflix Instant. Ya'll -- for real -- that show is pretty good. You're probably thinking it'd be terrible, but just watch a few episodes. They get the whole monstrous-transformation-as-stand-in-for-adolescence thing down pat. It's really nicely shot, they crib from Val Lewton movies like Cat People, and -- most importantly -- it's one of the most female gaze-y things I've ever seen. If I was still in grad school I'd be breaking out the Laura Mulvey every episode.

Anyway, this has been your werewolf update I guess? I'll leave you with this:

R.I.P Peter Stubbe. The killjoys got you after all.

Hi, I was looking for the video that you have linked about Peter Stubbe. I thought it was one of the most interesting, creepy (in a very good way and on multiple levels) things I had ever seen on the internet and now I simply cannot find it. There was nothing objectionable about it so I do not know why it was taken down off of YouTube and there is no apparent explanation.

I just left the comment above under Unknown. If you know what happened to this video, I would like to know. Some more descriptions of the video...

It appears to be animated wooden cut outs. The foreground is black and the background is beige. There is no spoken word, just titles, some of which seems to be in old/middle English (e.g., "for five and twenty years"). A song is sung in the background. It's lyrics are clear but I cannot find the name of the song itself, leading me to believe it is original. Some of the lyrics go:

"One Summer Day in the Month of May"
"A lonely lad with heart so sad..."
"I Can't tell why I love you but I do, do, do, do"

Well, I don't know where the actual animation went, but the song was "I can't tell why I love you, but I do" originally written by Harry MacDonough (1900). The version used in the video was I think "I Can't Tell You Why I Love You" by Darby & Talton (1928): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djKowr4J5B0

Thank you so very much, Sarah. I just listened to the song in the link and that absolutely was it. If there were a way to petition who ever posted that video to YouTube to re-post it, I would really like to know. I mean, some videos/essays/memes/etc are genuine internet treasures and I thought that was definitely one of them. I wish there had been a way for me to download it so that I could re-post it myself. It was so well done, and I think anyone who hasn't seen it is truly missing something.

SOMEBODY PLEASE RE-POST IT!!!!
